Man charged in hotel stabbing headed to prison

      John Mims

A Kirksville man arrested for beating and stabbing a man in a Quincy hotel is headed to prison.

John Mims was sentenced to five years Thursday for his role in last year's Bel-Aire Motel break-in.

Police say Mims and two other men kicked in the door of a room at the motel and repeatedly struck twenty-one-year-old Jason Peyton with baseball bats.

      Peyton was stabbed several times.

He was treated and released at Blessing Hospital.

Two other men were arrested in connection with the case.
