A pilot curbside recycling program that was available for select Macon residents, is now in the process of being expanded to city-wide, according to our sister station KTVO in Kirksville.
KTVO reporter Ashley Hoak reports that the recycling program started the week of February 3rd, and will last for six months.
The recyclables will be picked up on the regularly scheduled trash pick-up day. The recyclable items must be in a blue bag if they're intended to be picked up. Those bags will be provided free of charge and can be picked up during regular business hours at Macon City Hall, Macon Diversified Industries, the Macon Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Macon County Economic Development Center throughout the 6-month pilot program.
"We have kicked off a very successful recycling program so far. We have purchased the blue recycling bags, those are available free to all citizens within the city limits of Macon," Denise Bennett, Macon County Economic Development Center told Hoak.
Just a reminder that only recyclable items should be placed in the blue bags. No trash.
