Macon County teen treated for gunshot wound

An accidental gunshot wound has hospitalized a Macon County teenager Monday morning.

The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. at a residence near Ethel, Mo.

Macon County Sheriff Kevin Shoemaker says the unnamed teen was playing around with a .22 caliber revolver when the gun accidentally discharged.

The bullet went into his abdomen, then exited his body and lodged in his leg.

He was airlifted from the scene to University Hospital in Columbia. His condition is not yet available.
