The city administrator of Louisiana will take over as police chief.

Bob Jenne was named chief of the Louisiana Police Department after a 4-1 vote by the city council.

Jenne takes over for Richard Hughes, who died July 3 of apparent natural causes.

Detective April Epperson had served as the department's interim chief.

Jenne will not receive a pay increase on top of his $78,000 salary.

He has four decades of experience in law enforcement, and previously served as a police chief and emergency management coordinator in a St. Louis-area town.
