Local women wear red to support 1st Heart Gala
More than 200 women wore red to raise awareness for the number one killer of men and women - heart disease.
The first ever Blessing Health System "Heart of our Community Gala" took place Saturday.
One hundred percent of the ticket sale proceeds will go to the Blessing Foundation to support heart care and help address as of yet unmet needs of heart patients.
Maureen Kahn, the President at Blessing Health System, says it's important to pay attention to warning signs.
"Heart disease sometimes follows issues like obesity, diabetes, and every one of us have a loved one or family member who may be struggling with either hypertension or one of these effects," says Kahn.
Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore and Sen. Jil Tracy were also in attendence at the event.
