Local superhero honored in Bushnell, Illinois
Heroes from throughout the area gathered on Friday to honor a superhero who recently lost his battle with cancer.
Squad cars, fire engines, ambulances, motorcycles and other vehicles lined up in Bushnell, Illinois to escort 7-year-old Reid Brewer to his final resting place.
Reid passed away Sunday after battling Neuroblastoma for two years.
After a life celebration ceremony held at Bushnell Prairie City High School, emergency responders turned on their lights while escorting the funeral procession to the Bushnell Cemetery.
Reid helped raise money to support other local families affected by childhood cancer.
That includes St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Ronald McDonald Houses.
His biggest accomplishment was donating 16 X-Box One systems, games and controllers to the upcoming Hematology/Oncology ward at the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
