Local man goes to prison for stealing from church collection box

Chris Kackley of LaGrange, Mo.

A LaGrange man is headed to prison for stealing from a Quincy church.

Christopher Kackley, 32, pleaded guilty Thursday to a January break-in of St. Peter's Church in Quincy,

He admitted to stealing money from collection boxes inside the church building.

A judge sentenced him to more than seven years in prison for the burglary to a place of worship.

He's also been ordered to pay nearly $300 in restitution to the church.

On January 10, Quincy Police received reports that someone was burglarizing St. Peter's Church shortly after 4 p.m. When officers responded, they say 32-year-old Christopher Kackley ran away from the church and into a nearby building.

Kackley was arrested for burglary to a place of worship, possession of burglary tools and resisting a peace officer.

At that time, the incident was the second police report at St. Peter's Church in as many months. In December, the church reported stolen money from locked donation boxes inside the building.
