Local group aims to keep child safety top priority

The Advocacy Network For Children aims to keep child safety top priority.

The group hosted a CASA training program Monday evening for eight volunteers.

The goal is for the volunteers to be the eyes, ears and voice for abused and neglected children within the court system.

Executive Director Todd Shackelford said these volunteers will soon be crucial to help abused kids during the recovery stages.

"Actually do better throughout the system and finding the proper care and the things they need to be kids again," Shackelford explained.

Shackellford mentioned they host volunteer training in Adams County and will soon hold another one in McDonough County in early May.
