Local cancer survivors celebrated life Monday evening through the
Blessing Cancer Center's
celebration of life event.
It was part of a worldwide celebration event that's been going on for more 26 years.
Bobbi Wellman was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997 and again in March of this year.
She has had surgery and is on her way to recovery.
Wellman said events such as the one Monday provide a support system for people who've been through cancer treatment.
"I'm a survivor," she said. "It makes me feel very good. More and more birthdays are on their way. It's a great feeling. If it hadn't been for early detection, I wouldn't be here now."
More than 1200 cancer survivors live in Quincy, according to the Blessing Cancer Center.
