One local organization is challenging you to a basketball game but there's a catch.

      You can't use your legs.

The West Central Illinois Center for Independent Living is hosting a 3 on 3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament.

The tourney is double elimination with three person teams.

WCICIL looks to empower persons with disabilities and equal access in society.

All able-bodied individuals are encouraged to participate.

Organizers say the tourney can serve as an eye opener for some of its players.

"It really is an awareness to get people out there and understand the different disabilities and to not exclude them from the sport arena," WCICIL Director of Community and Education Services Dustin Gorder said. "People think basketball is an automatic able-bodied individuals and it's not necessarily that."

The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at Quincy University's Health & Fitness Center starting at 8 a.m.

There are still two team spots open.

You can register by calling 217-223-0400.

Money from the event will go to independent living services in the Adams, Brown, Hancock, McDonough, Pike, and Schuyler counties.
