Link card lands Macomb Police officer behind bars

William Kennedy

A meeting Wednesday could determine the job security of a Macomb police officer accused of forgery and state benefit fraud.

Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker says officer William Kennedy was arrested following an investigation by Macomb Police and the Illinois State Police Monday.

Kennedy is accused of writing a check to himself from another person's account and illegally obtaining and using a LINK card in another person's name.

Right now he's suspended with pay.

Chief Barker says he may decide whether Kennedy will stay on the force after meeting with him.
