An accident between a tractor and tanker truck resulted in two air evacuations Sunday afternoon.
Jackson Township firefighters responded to the accident that occurred at 12:14 p.m. along Highway 218 in Lee County in between Argyle Road and Airport Road.
According to Jackson Township Fire Chief Paul Henson, they called for the assistance of Keokuk Fire Department and Montrose Iowa Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters had to extricate the people from the vehicles. One subject was airlifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, and the other to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Highway 218 was temporarily shut down and reopened around 3:15 p.m.
