Lake Ozark approves ban on visible firearms in public

Lake Ozark aldermen approved a city ordinance that prohibits people from openly carrying firearms in public.

You will no longer be able to carry a firearm openly in Lake Ozark in public places.

According to Meghan Lane with our sister station KRCG, Lake Ozark alderman approved an ordinance.

The city says the intent is to provide an atmosphere of safety for residents and the many visitors to the lake area.

The ban does not restrict anyone who has a valid conceal carry permit from carrying a concealed weapon, or prohibit the open carry of a firearm readily capable of lethal use, on private property not open to the public.
