Keokuk man faces arson charge

State investigators say a 20-year-old Keokuk man has been charged with arson after fires were started in his neighbors' garages. Travis Thrush was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree arson. Investigators say tracks in snow that led to and from the second fire originated from the house next door where Thrush lives. Shoes in his apartment apparently matched the tracks. Earlier in the evening, officials responded to another fire nearby that destroyed a garage and car. Thrush was being held at the Lee County Jail on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Feb. 9. Authorities say more charges are expected. They wouldn't say whether those charges are related to as many as 10 other area arsons since last spring.
