A Vandalia man faces criminal charges after he fled from police during a weekend traffic stop.
The Ralls County Sheriff's office says 32-year-old Jewel Brawley was the passenger of car that was pulled over on Highway 61.
Authorities say while the deputy was confirming Brawley and the driver's identification, Brawley fled from the car on foot.
A Monroe City Police Department K-9 patrol dog was called in to help search for Brawley.
He was was later found hidden in a wooded area and lodged in the Pike County Jail.
The driver of the vehicle was also arrested for driving while revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brawley's case has now been referred to the Ralls County Prosecutor's Office.
