Monday was the first day back to school for Quincy teachers.
Teachers and staff met at Quincy Junior High School for a welcome back assembly complete with music from a Quincy High School Senior.
Superintendent Steve Cobb also gave the staff a pep talk.
He said this year, he wants to focus on truancy and attitude.
The theme of the assembly was 'Be our best, do our best, expect the best'.
"This is on all of us to change this perception. I mean all of us on the stage and those sitting in the audience. We are QPS and we are the spokespersons for our districts. When we speak poorly of our schools, people listen ," Cobb said.
Cobb also pointed out when staff talk highly of the district, people will listen.
School for students in the Quincy Public School System starts Wednesday.
