      ISP: Bad road conditions cause fatal crash near Nauvoo


      One man is dead in a Sunday crash that Illinois State Police said was the result of bad road conditions near Nauvoo.


      Daniel Johnson, 59, of Belvidere, was northbound about 8:45 a.m. on Illinois 96 at 2021 North in Hancock County when he lost control of his car and struck a tree, ISP said. His car also traveled over the oncoming lane of traffic and struck an embankment.


      Investigators say Johnson died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.


      He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact.
