UPDATE : December 3 at 2:16 p.m.
As of Friday, Fred Scaletta with the Iowa State Penitentiary says that they have begun the transition from lockdown status to restrictive movement with anticipated return to normal operation status sometime the beginning of next week.
Only one of the inmates involved in the incident remains hospitalized at this time.
During the lockdown a full institution search was completed. The inmate population was cooperative during the lockdown and search.
Because the incident remains under investigation and until ISP investigators are able to provide the findings of the investigation to prosecuting authorities the extent of injuries, motive and questions as to what type of weapons were used to cause the injuries cannot be released. ISP officials plan to meet with prosecuting authorities first of next week.

The Iowa State Penitentiary remains in a lockdown status following Tuesday TMs serious incident involving inmate assaults.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., an alarm was activated in the Habitat/ Restorative Justice Work site where the four inmates that were involved in this serious incident were discovered.
The four inmates involved were Derek Smith who is serving a life sentence for Murder 1st , Heath Burgess who is incarcerated for Sex Abuse 2nd/ Robbery 1st , Joshua George who is serving a life sentence for Murder 1st/Kidnap 2nd/Robbery 1st and Toby Michael who is also serving a life sentence for Murder 1st .
Three of the four inmates remain under hospital care for serious stab wounds. One offender has been returned to the Institution.
The incident remains under investigation and appears to be an isolated dispute amongst the four mentioned above.

The Ft. Madison corrections center is still under lockdown status.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says that four inmates were stabbed at the the correctional center in Ft. Madison Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. and the institution was placed in lockdown status.
Iowa DOC says all four inmates are being treated at a local hospital for their injuries.
No members of the DOC staff were injured in the incident.
The incident is under investigation.
It is unknown at this time if other inmates were involved or who may have been aggressors in the incident.
The names of the inmates involved at this time are being withheld.
An Iowa State Penitentiary spokesperson reported an incident between inmates Tuesday morning.
Ambulances were called to the scene for an offender on offender incident, but there were no staff injuries reported.
