Iowa inmate on the loose after escaping from work release

An Iowa inmate is on the loose Tuesday morning after escaping from a work release facility.

According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, Lloyd Allen, 20, was placed on escape status after failing to return to the Waterloo Work Release Facility following an authorized temporary leave.

Allen was transferred to work release this past June.

He was originally sentenced to 10 years for willful injury causing serious injury and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

Allen is described as an African American male with black hair and brown eyes.

He is 6 feet tall and weighs 218 lbs. with a tattoo on his left forearm.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Waterloo Police Department or Black Hawk County Sheriff's Department.
