Iowa house fire closes portion of 61

Six Tri-States fire departments had their hands full Monday afternoon dealing with a house fire near Huffman Welding on the West Edge of Fort Madison.
The Montrose Fire Department was the first on the scene just after 2:30 Monday afternoon.
The captain of the Montrose Fire Department says that the fire appeared to have started in a breezeway between the house and garage. Both were a total loss.
Extra fire fighters were brought in for manpower replacements because of the hot conditions.
The house is owned by the Huffman family and was being rented out.
The Montrose Fire Department will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Fire officials are currently on the scene of house fire Monday afternoon on the west edge of Fort Madison, Iowa near Huffman Welding.
Details are minimal, but early reports say that a portion of Highway 61 is closed. Firefighters from numerous surrounding fire departments have been called to assist.
