Important traffic notices for Quincy drivers
Mon, 24 Mar 2014 02:13:17 GMT —
We have some important notices to pass on to Quincy drivers.
Starting Monday, March 24, the traffic lights at the intersections of 8th and Vermont and 8th and Jersey will be turned off and covered.
The signals at both of these intersections will be replaced with double 2-way STOP signs.
Once the signs are in place, traffic on both Vermont and Jersey will stop for 8th street traffic.
After the signs are in place the public will have 90 days to comment on the changes.
You can send your comments to:
City of Quincy
Attention Jeffrey Conte, P.E.
Director of Utilities and Engineering
730 Maine Street
Also starting Monday morning at 7 a.m. through Friday, April 4, traffic on Broadway from 5th to 14th Streets will be changed to allow some street work to be completed.
Starting at North 5th, short sections of the roadway will be closed at a time.
Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane with the southern lane closed.
One lane of eastbound traffic will stay open at all times while the work is going on.
The third notice also starts Monday morning and will affect drivers from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday for the next three weeks. Traffic on North 12th Street from Watt's Lane to Koch's Lane will be reduced to one lane.
The northbound lane of traffic will be closed so city crews can install a new storm sewer, curbing and sidewalk to the area.
As always drivers are strongly urged to use caution when driving through these work zones.
