The State of Illinois will celebrate Tax Freedom Day Monday.
It marks the date in which Illinois residents have collectively earned enough income to pay off their total federal, state and local tax bill.
Illinois is now the 43rd state to reach Tax Freedom Day.
The states with the earliest Tax Freedom Days are Louisiana, Mississippi and South Dakota.
According to TaxFoundation.org Americans will spend more on taxes in 2014 than they will on food, clothing, and housing combined.
