Hundreds turn out for Twain on Main celebration in Hannibal

Little girl gets her face painted at the Twain on Main festival.

Twain on Main

is one of the first big celebrations of the season in Hannibal.

Event organizer Erik Spence says that as the centerpiece of the Memorial Day weekend, the event is the perfect opportunity for people to get out and see what downtown Hannibal has to offer.

"The shopkeepers are the main sponsors of the event," Spence said. "Get out and see all the faces of the vendors that are coming from as far north as Chicago, down to Arkansas, out to Oklahoma and all the way east as Indiana."

And what would a celebration like

Twain on Main

be without great food?

One of the popular stopping places is the Miller's Barbeque tent.

Co-owner Bridget Miller says that she is glad to be a part of the event.

"I think it's great for the community," Miller said. "It brings business, money, profits to all the businesses. It's good. It's all good."

Spence says he is glad to see the popularity of the Twain on Main event grow each year.

"Three years ago we rejuvenated the Twain on Main festival and it has just grown three years in a row," Spence said. "So we're real excited and next year we're looking for bigger and better things."

Twain on Main

continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
