      Huckleberry Park stabbing sends 2 to the hospital, 3 to jail

      Three people were arrested Saturday in connection with a stabbing at Hannibal's Huckleberry Park.

      According to a press release from the Hannibal Police Department, Lauren Sinclair, 21, of Hannibal, Aaron Weatherby, 18, of Vandalia, and Zachary Kuntz, 24, of Eolia, were arrested and charged with two counts each of assault in the second degree which is a class C felony. Kuntz was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon which is a class D felony.

      Lt. Kathy Davis reported in the release that officers were called to the 800 block of Pleasant at 12:20 a.m. Saturday where a 21-year-old New London man had a stab wound and was being taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment by ambulance.

      An investigation was launched, according to the release, and officers found that the assault and stabbing took place in Huckleberry Park just before the emergency call came in.

      The victim from New London and another 22-year-old man from New London had gone to the park to meet someone when they were assaulted by a group of people, according to the release.

      The Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Pike County Sheriff's Office and the Hannibal Police Department assisted in locating the suspects in Pike County, Mo. after their investigation found that the suspects had left the area after the assault.

      Both stabbing victims sought treatment at Hannibal Regional Hospital, one by Marion County Ambulance and the second by personal vehicle, according to police.

      Bond was set for Sinclair, Weatherby and Kuntz at $100,000 cash only bond and they are lodged in the Marion County Jail.
