HRH opens new medical building

Hannibal, Mo.- Hannibal Regional Hospital has opened its newest addition to the city's medical campus.

Physicians and staff at Hannibal Regional Medical Group greeted their first patients this morning.

You might recall Hannibal Regional Hospital broke ground on a new expansion in 2007. The $22 million project included an expanded Emergency wing, which opened last year.

The modern facility houses a state of the art Cardiovascular Institute on the first floor. The facility also houses medical specialists from allergists to urologists to a plastic surgeon.

HRH President and CEO John Grossmeier says this new medical office building will house more than 30 physicians who are part of the newly formed Hannibal Regional Medical Group. Hannibal's Cardiovascular Institute is now located on the southern end of the facility.

Officials say what's different about this facility is the patient-centered care.

Crews are still working to install a hyperbaric chamber used in treating wounds inside the facility.

Funding for the expansion came from hospital funds, donor support and hospital bonds.

During previous conversations with Grossmeier, he explained this boost in healthcare for Hannibal is a needed service to help save more lives. It will also bring more jobs to the Hannibal area.
