Hot temps call for cooling centers

Seating and cold water will be available during those hours.

As temps continue to heat up the Salvation Army now needs your help to cool people down.

The organization has given out all available fans for its fan program and its now accepting public donations.

You can drop off gently used fans or a cash donation to the Salvation Army Family Services at the Quincy and Hannibal locations.

Fan distribution is prioritized for people over the age of 65, those with children under 5 years of age and those who are disabled.

In another effort to cool down the public, the Salvation Army Kroc Center and Family Services are now open as cooling centers.

These locations will stay open to the public on days when heat advisories are issued.

The Family Services office will be open Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The Kroc Center will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Seating and cold water will be available during those hours.
