Sun, 24 Jul 2011 20:39:06 GMT — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is investigating a heat related death this weekend. Authorities found 75-year-old Lois Wheeler of Chapin, Illinois dead in her home Friday evening. Her neighbors reported not being able to get in touch with her throughout last week. According to the Jacksonville Courier, the house was locked, but a deputy was able to get inside through a window. Wheeler lived alone and didn't have air-conditioning in the house. The inside temperature of her home was more than 100 degrees at the time she was found. Wheeler had a fan going, but it was not enough to circulate air. Morgan County Coroner Jeff Lair determined Wheeler died sometime Wednesday. He says her death was caused by the heat mixed with previous health issues. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is handling funeral arrangements.
