Hannibal teenager killed in one-car crash Saturday

Sun, 06 May 2012 18:55:03 GMT — UPDATED: May 7 at 12:33 p.m. The Hannibal Police Department determined that a one-car crash that killed a Hannibal teenager Saturday afternoon was an accident. Officers responded to the 700 block of Ben Lomond at 1:17 p.m. to find a 2001 Saturn in a wooded area. Austin Hampton, 16, of Hannibal was sitting in the passenger seat of the parked car. The car rolled out of the drive way and down a steep hill into a wooded area striking several trees before coming to a rest, according to police. Hampton was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Graveside service will will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home. Austin's classmates and friends are invited to attend the services.
