Hannibal snowman contest results announced

Hannah Gentry won Most Original with her two snow-dogs.

It may be spring, but the Hannibal Park Board is recognizing the efforts of some snow sculpting artists.

Fifty-two people entered their frosty creations in the competition.

Check out the winners of the first ever snowman contest in town.

- Hannah Wathen and Adrianna Dunn won Most Hannibal Spirit with their Hannibal Pirate snowman.

- Hannah Gentry won Most Original with her two snow-dogs.

- Austin and Brennon Otto won Biggest Snowman.

The entries were built all over Hannibal, from local parks to schools to backyards. Mary Lynne Richards, assistant supervisor for promotions and planning, said the contest surpassed expectations. â??We had so many creative entries,â?? she said. â??We have many examples posted on our Facebook page and our website so everyone can see.â??

She said the entries were sent in by different groups: families, friends, youth groups, classes and work colleagues. â??You could tell a lot of these entries took some teamwork,â?? she said. â??Itâ??s our goal at Hannibal Parks & Recreation to get people up and active, so weâ??re glad everyone wanted to get outdoors and build a snowman.â??

Prizes were donated by Java Jive, JuJu Cup, the Sauced Hog, Golden Ruler and Paddlewheel Popcorn.
