Museums went head to head in two different parts of the country in a competition called "Dollar at the Door".
Hannibal's Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum defeated The Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Conn. This was the first ever challenge between the two museums.
Along with the purchase of a museum ticket, visitors would pay an additional endowment donation. The two museums did this for the month of July in a friendly competition two increase funds for each museum.
Since 2009, the Hannibal home has raised over $25,000. The funds will go towards future museum projects.
