A former member of the Hamilton, Illinois school board has resigned that post in the wake of allegations of sexual abuse against a minor.The Keokuk Daily Gate City reports that 44 year old August Dion Gregory submitted his resignation in writing on Tuesday.Hamilton District School superintendent said that Gregory's resignation went to effect immediately.He made a brief appearance in a Hancock County courthouse Thursday morning.Gregory is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse on someone under 18 years old.The alleged abuse is believed to have occurred between September 1st and December 2nd of this year.Gregory is being held in the Hancock County Jail on a 50 thousand dollar bail.

You'll recall Hamilton police arrested 44-year-old August Dion Gregory late Saturday night.
Tri-States Public Radio reports that Gregory is a member of the Hamilton School Board.
He was originally charged with one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse with a victim below the age of 18.
More charges have been filed since then.
Gregory faces more than sixty years in prison and tens of thousands of dollars in fines if convicted on all counts.
He's scheduled to appear in court tomorrow morning.
He is currently being held in the Hancock County Jail on $50,000 bail.
