Grenade found in Quincy backyard

Scenic Drive in Quincy

A scary situation took place Wednesday morning at a home in Quincy's north end.

Quincy police say a grenade was found in the back yard of a home at 421 Scenic Drive.

Sgt. Dan Duhamel of the Quincy Police Department received the call about 10 a.m. from the homeowner.

The Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad traveled from Springfield to collect the grenade.

There were no injuries reported.

"We're not sure if it was a live grenade or not," he said. "It was rusted, but we treated it as if it's a live grenade."
