Getting a grip on the Affordable Care Act in Pike County
Fri, 26 Jul 2013 02:46:43 GMT —
There is a lot of confusion across the nation regarding the Affordable Care Act or ACA.
In order to get some solid information into the hands of small business owners in Pike County, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business Workshop Thursday night in Pittsfield.
A regional outreach coordinator for the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace explained to those who attended how the marketplace will work and what sort of advantages it will offer to their business.
For chamber of commerce executive director Kaye Iftner, this workshop is just the first step in helping the business community get ready for the change.
"We're just muddling through this the same way as members are. We believe the first step is just to get the information out there and then our role will evolve as the needs of the business community evolve," she said.

More workshops are planned for the future to address other issues related to the Affordable Care Act.
Enrollment for the program starts on October 1, 2013.
