Gasoline thieves behind bars

Two Macomb men await court appearances after stealing 90 gallons of gasoline, according to the McDonough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested Drew L. Stivers, 20, and Robert L. Thompson, 19, Tuesday after an investigation into the Aug.19 and Monday thefts of gasoline from a barrel at the Chalmers Township municipal shed.

Investigators recovered hoses, a generator, bolt cutters and about 10 gallons of gasoline during the investigation.

The two men are accused of stealing approximately 60 gallons of gas on Aug. 19 and about 30 gallons on Aug. 26.

Thompson and Stivers are charged with theft of government supported property, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.

They remain at the McDonough County Jail.
