Frese 'very interested' in Tracy's state house seat

Randy Frese is a likely candidate to seek a state house seat now held by outgoing State Rep. Jil Tracy.

"This is Jil's day and I don't want to take away from that," Frese said. "I am very interested in that seat and will pursue all options."

Three other sources who asked to speak on the condition of anonymity said that Frese will seek the Republican nomination in the March primary.

Tuesday marked the first day that candidates could begin circulating petitions for the March Primary Election. Those petitions are due to the County Clerk beginning Nov. 25.

State Sen. Kirk Dillard

announced Tuesday

that he selected Tracy, R-Quincy, to run on his gubernatorial ticket for the lieutenant governor leaving her seat open.

Frese, a former video store owner, served as Adams County Circuit Clerk.

Frese most recently lost a bid for the Illinois senate losing in the November primary to State Sen. John Sullivan, D-Rushville.
