Fountain dedicated to WWI hero functional again

Happening Friday, a fountain re-dedication for a Tri-State general.

The ceremony took place at the Quincy History Muesum.

The fountain was originally dedicated in April 1919 by the mother of General Hill to remember her son's bravery.

Henry Root Hill was killed in action during an Allied offensive in the Argonne Forest in France on October 16, 1918 during WWI.

It has been several years since the fountain has been functional.

Fixing the fountain was a goal for the Historical Society during the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entrance into World War I.
