Former Pike County sheriff candidate heads to trial

A former Pike County sheriff candidate who faces felony assault charges is now expected to make a plea in Montgomery County court Wednesday.

Authorities say 40-year-old Grover Lynn Turner Jr., caused more than $6,700 in damage after he rammed his pickup truck into another car.

He also allegedly lied to police about his truck's location.

Turner was a candidate for Pike County sheriff in 2012, but lost the November election.

His case was moved to Montgomery County from Pike last October in a change of venue request.
