Fiery crash in Quincy kills one

Crews are on the scene of a car crash in the area of 36th and Broadway in Quincy.

A fatal accident occurred near 36th and Broadway Wednesday.

The call came in for the three-car accident at 11:23 a.m.

Officers responded to the fatality accident on N 36th St between the entrance to Kmart and the entrance to Aldi/Burger King.

Upon their arrival, a 2011 Ford Escape was on its side and fully engulfed in flames.

Eyewitness reports confirm that there was one white SUV on its side near the west entrance of Kmart.

After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the Ford was exiting the East Aldi/Burger King parking lot in an attempt to enter or cross 36th St. A north bound 2011 Hyundai, driven by Teresa Provine struck the passenger side of the Ford. The Ford then rolled on its side towards a third vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet driven by Suzanne Kelle, which was trying to exit the west Kmart lot. The Ford came to rest against the Chevrolet.

There was a container presumed to be gasoline in the rear of the Ford, which ignited the Ford and the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet sustained some fire damage, but was quickly put out and moved away from the scene.

Several bystanders attempted to break windows out of the Ford to pull the driver to safety, however they were unable to. Several of those bystanders were treated for burns at Blessing ER.

Authorities have released the name of the fatality.

The driver of the Ford was Bob J. Voss, 70, of Quincy. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Adams County Coroner James Keller.

The other two drivers sustained no injuries. All three drivers were wearing their seat belts.
