      Father charged with son's murder back in court

      The man charged with shooting his 22-year-old son on a trip through Pike County, Missouri faces more charges.


      Michael Lee Phillips, 45, of St. John, Mo. is charged in the Aug. 31 death of Jeff Chisholm.


      During a hearing Monday, the Pike County prosecuting attorney's office added a charge of voluntary manslaughter to Phillips' case.


      The new charge is added to felony counts of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.


      Phillips waived his preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 24 for arraignment.


      He remains in the Pike County Jail on $200,000 bond.


      The incident took place on Pike 52, a county road off of U.S. 61 between New London and Bowling Green.


      Chisholm was pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m.


      Pike County, Mo. Sheriff Stephen Korte said that Chisholm had been fighting with his father and other family members who were traveling as part of a weekend getaway.
