Fatal snowmobile crash in McDonough County

A McDonough County man is dead after his snowmobile crashed into a barbed wire fence.


A McDonough County man is dead after his snowmobile crashed into a barbed wire fence.


The incident happened Tuesday night at 5:52 at 45 N. Walnut Street, Bushnell, Ill.


The Illinois State Police say Logan Lear, 22, of Bushnell was driving a snowmobile in the dark without a headlamp.


Authorities say he crashed into a woven wire fence that had a strand of barbed wire at the top.


Lear received fatal injuries as a result of the crash.


A benefit is being held for Logan's family on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Bushnell VFW Post #1422 at 181 East Hail St. in Bushnell, Ill. Logan leaves behind his wife, Brittney (Carpenter), a 3-year-old son and a baby due in July 2014. A pulled pork meal will be served from 4-5:30 p.m. for $5 a plate and an auction will begin at 6 p.m. Call Amanda Stracker at 309-252-2114 for more information.
