UPDATE: Cause of Death Determined in Elkton Fatal Fire
UPDATE: 1/2/18 The Adams County Coroner confirms the cause of death for Laura Tournear was death due to smoke. The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE: The Adams County Coroner has confirmed 50 year old Laura A. Tournear was pronounced dead at the scene.
A postmortem examination is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
According to fire officials the entire fourth floor of the hotel sustained smoke damage.
Adams County Emergency Management Director John Simon, arranged for a city bus to house the evacuated occupants out of the frigid temperatures.
Four people were transported to Blessing Hospital by ambulance.
Quincy fire officials tell KHQA two other people were in imminent danger, and had to be rescued from the fire; One from an outside ladder, the other was rescued inside.
An investigation is now underway into a fatal fire in Quincy.
It happened around 1:30 New Year's morning on the fourth floor of the Elkton Hotel.
At this time, officials are not releasing a name of the victim.
Assistant Chief James Pioch with the Quincy Fire Department says the fire started out in the bedroom on the fourth floor.
The fire appears to have started on the bed according to Pioch.
