Extended pheasant season in Illinois

Pheasant hunters in Illinois now have an extended season in three places in the state.

One of which is the Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area in Cass County.

Hunters can now hunt from January 16 through the 19th at Panther Creek.

You're encouraged to check out the DNR's website for permit information.

There are other sites where an extended season will also happen.

The seasons will be extended at Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area in Clinton County, and Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area in Franklin and Jefferson Counties.

The dates will be January 10 through 12th at Hazlet and Fitzgerrell.

Daily permits are $30 for residents and $35 for non-residents.

Reserved permits ensure hunters will have the chance to hunt.
