Eight arrested Friday in connection with meth crimes

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department made 8 meth-related arrests Friday at four different locations.

According to Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger, Willie J. Boyer, 31, was arrested at his home in Niota.

Authorities also arrested 27-year-old Jared A. Schiedel of Donnellson, IA at a home in Fort Madison.

Both were arrested on charges of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. They are scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.

A search warrant at 507 Arbor Street in Niota led to the arrest of 37-year-old Rodney L. Monroe.

He was taken in on charges of possession of meth-making material.

Another search at 103 West Drake Street in La Harpe led to the discovery of a meth lab and the arrest of 5 more people.

La Harpe residents Melissa A. Squire, 37, Shane A. Taft, 28, and Tim W. Frye, 40, were all arrested.

Also arrested at the home were 23-year-old William W. Carey of Mt. Sterling and 42-year-old Brian Slowick of Nauvoo.

Carey initially ran from deputies by breaking out a bedroom window but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Additonal charges and arrests are expected.
