      Edina teen accidentally shot in the head

      The Edina community is mourning a local teenager who died after an apparent accidental shooting.

      Logan Steven Allen, 15, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 10 at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. following an accidental gunshot wound.

      Officials say Allen and another boy were hanging out at a home on West Jackson Street in Edina when when Allen was accidentally shot in the back of the head with a gun.

      The shooting is being investigated by the Edina Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.

      According to the obituary, Logan Allen was a freshman at Knox County R-I High School where he was very active in Future Farmers of America, shop and ag classes. He loved sports; he played baseball and basketball. This summer he was playing on the Knox County Traveling Baseball Team. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He also enjoyed the outdoors by going hunting, fishing, boating, tubing, bowling and four-wheel riding. He also loved being on the farm.

      He worked part-time for Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina.

      The obituary describes him like this: "Logan made an impact on everyone??s life. He had a big heart and always a beautiful infectious smile for everyone. He just naturally brightened your day no matter what. Over all he had so much enthusiasm and joy for life. He has been taken so suddenly from us but God had a special destiny for Logan and he will be eternally in our hearts."

      Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.

      Burial will be in Garden of the Cross section of Park View Memorial Gardens at Kirksville, MO.

      Visitation will be on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
