The Illinois Senate has OK'd a bill that would ban cell phone use while driving.
The bill, which was approved by the House in March, is now headed to Governor Pat Quinn's desk.
Drivers holding cell phones would be ticketed except during emergencies.
Instead all drivers would have to use hands-free devices or speakerphone features to make and receive calls.
While supporters say this will make Illinois roads safer, opponents say the bill is unfair to people who can't afford high-tech phones.
