Donation helps defray horse rescue in Lee County, Iowa

Horses rescued from Donnellson, Iowa in January 2014

Here's an update on those Lee County horses that were rescued from a pasture near Donnellson, Iowa last month.

Kent Nutrition Group or KNG of Muscatine donated close to a ton of horse feed for the 39 malnourished horses.

In a statement to media, KNG stated it was happy to help the horses and the individuals from around the state willing to take them in.

The rescuers received a free 50-lb bag of feed for each horse they have given a new home.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says the donation has helped defray expenses of the rescue operation.

The horses' owner, Jeffrey Graber, was arrested January 8th and charged with livestock neglect.
