Bowker was a member of the Lee County Task force when he was reassigned to the Fort Madison Department for performance issues including sleeping on the job.

The reason for his firing in 2010 is cited as unsatisfactory performance on the task force in 2008 and for unbecoming conduct due to the affair, as well as giving false statements about the affair during the investigation.
