Daley abruptly ends race for Illinois governor

Former White House chief of staff William Daley is set to explain his decision to bow out of the
Illinois governor's race.

Daley plans to address reporters later Tuesday morning in Chicago. The Democrat abruptly bowed out of the race Monday evening.

Daley is the son of late Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley and brother of former Mayor Richard M. Daley.

His decision to drop out leaves Gov. Pat Quinn facing Democrat Tio Hardiman in the primary, unless another candidate joins the fray.

Hardiman is the former head of a Chicago anti-violence group and isn't well known to voters outside of the city.
