One elderly person is dead and two suspects are still wanted Monday following a crime spree that began Sunday in Moberly, Mo.

Local authorities believe the events including thefts and a homicide are connected.

Moberly police were called to Walmart Sunday in reference to a shoplifting incident. According to police, two subjects, a white male and a black male were seen stealing items from the store. The subjects reportedly got into a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Macon.

Our sister station KTVO in Kirksville reported that the stolen vehicle the suspects were seen in was later located abandoned and turned over to the Macon Police Department.

Shortly after that vehicle was found, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of a fire in which another vehicle had been set on fire. The sheriff's office began an investigation of the car fire, but was then called to Route D in regards to two subjects being shot. Both subjects were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The vehicle of one of the shooting victims was then stolen and wrecked at the end of the driveway, so the suspects went back to the scene and took a second vehicle belonging to one of the victims. That truck was later crashed in a ditch.

The Randolph County authorities were then called to a residence on Route BB where a woman was assaulted and her vehicle was stolen. That vehicle is a white Saturn Vue with the license plate FA6T3E. Police are still looking for that vehicle.

While investigating the burned vehicle, Moberly police attempted to make contact with the car owner and found the 92-year-old victim deceased.

The death is being investigated as suspicious and no further details are available at this time.

Anyone seeing or knowing who the two subjects are is asked to contact their local law enforcement.

Police say if you are unsure of who is at the door, do not answer it.
