Crews battle shed fire in Hannibal Sunday afternoon
Brandon Bloodgood and his family were planning to enjoy their Sunday afternoon watching football on TV. That changed around 2 pm.
"Somebody knocked on my door furiously. Said my house was on fire," Bloodgood said.
That somebody was a complete stranger just passing by. Bloodgood jumped to his feet inside his home on North Maple Street. He looked outside to see his shed covered in fire
"Grabbed my kids, woke up my wife from her nap and sat outside," Bloodgood shared.
Hannibal Assistant Fire Chief Mark VanWinkle says his crews were prepared for the worst case scenario.
"It was rolling out of pretty much every corner of the building...The call come in had possible people in side. We had men in packs ready for an interior attack."
Crews arrived at the pictured shed at 117 North Maple Street around 2:00 p.m.
Captain Clinton Conrad tells KHQA eight fire fighters arrived on the scene and found heavy fire and smoke coming from a detached garage behind the house.
"The garage sustained significant damage," Conrad explained. "The vehicle inside sustained significant damage."
The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes. An investigator was on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
There were no injuries. This fire is still under investigation.
The Hannibal Fire Department, along with The Hannibal Police Department are working on the investigation and at this time the Fire will remain Under Investigation.
